Raid on Lewisfield Plantation (jan 1, 1781 – dec 31, 1781)
Description:
Patriot Col Wade Hampton's militia conducted a surprise raid on the British at the Lewisfield Plantation near Monck's Corner. During the raid, Hampton's militia destroyed several boat loads of supplies at the landing on the west branch of the Cooper River just over 100 feet from the plantation. Hampton also captured 78 British soldiers.Added to timeline:
