Tory Hanged (jul 1, 1780 – jul 31, 1780)

Description:

The British and Patriot forces camped in an area known as the "High Hills of the Santee". The Borough House, a local tavern in the area was the scene of the hanging of an unknown Tory from a large live oak tree. The tree stood until 1973 when damgaed by a storm and had to be cut down.
