Rocky Creek Presyterian Church (jun 5, 1780 – aug 31, 1780)

Description:

Rocky Creek Reformed Presbyterian Church was as a log building, built in 1773. Reverend William Martin, minister of the Rocky Creek Presbyterian Church advocated against the British from the Pulpit. Lt Col George Turnbull, British commander at Rocky Mount learned of the speech. Turnbull Dragoons, burned the church, Rev Martin's home, killed several, and took Rev Martin prisoner. Once the British left the area and released Rev Martin, he continued to preach revolution.
