James Booth Killed (jan 1, 1780 – dec 31, 1780)
Description:
While in route to the jail with Patriot Capt. John Ryan , the British stopped and ask James Booth, a Tory plowing his field for rope to tie Rayn's hands. Booth said he would give up a years plowing to tie Rayn's hands. Ryan escaped after a year in the prison, returned and found Booth eating lunch under a tree at "Sarah Hame Spring located along the Old Stage Road. Booth begged for his life but Ryan shot him dead.
