Ancient Greek Democracy is, as far as we know, the first ever democracy, developing around the 5th Century BC. While it was not perfect, it helped to lay the foundation for liberalism by showing how a democratic government can work. In addition to this, the Ancient Greek Democracy was one of the first societies to enforce the Rule of Law, where everyone must follow the same laws regardless of social status.Added to timeline:
