Named after Jalal-ud-Dïn Khilji, who assassinated the last ruler of the Mamluk Dynasty, Moiz ud din Qaiqabad in 1290. Khilji was murdered by his nephew, Ala-ud-din six years later. He was able to expand the dynasty over Southern and Central India. After his death in 1316 his son took over and ruled for 4 years before he was murdered by Khusro Khan, ending the Khilji Dynasty.
