Creature breaks through the 'cap' placed on the third hole (may 11, 1995 – may 12, 1995)
Description:
11 MAY 1995 'Kola Borehole Creature' INCIDENT REPORT:
7:30AM - Kola Borehole Observation Site (KBOS) logs the beginning of observation for the 11th of May 1995.
8:41AM - Various low level tremors are picked up by seismology equipment on-site and are dismissed by the site manager.
9:52AM - Tremors intensify dramatically, being reported in nearby towns. Emergency personnel and first responders are dispatched to quell panic. Site manager is notified again, yet still dismisses the tremors as "unimportant".
9:58AM - A massive tremor causes substantial damage to the KBOS main structure, leading to several minor injuries. Site manager gives go ahead to site engineers to engage borehole bracing mechanisms. Evacuation of all personnel from the KBOS is ordered.
10:02AM - Creature breaks through the 'cap'
10:03AM - Creature reaches ~50m above ground level before 'wiping' itself in a circle along the ground around it. Many personnel are killed or gravely wounded.
10:05AM - Drill site is completely destroyed and debris is flung up to 50km away, touching down in Nikel', Pechenga, and unpopulated land. Dozens of civilians are injured.
10:09AM - Creature emits an incredibly loud 'roar' well in excess of 120dB. Blood vessels within a 1km radius burst, and anyone not wearing adequate protection within 3km is rendered permanently deaf.
10:10AM - Boris Yeltsin gives command to deploy Russian ground troops, armor units, and several aircraft around the KBOS.
10:13AM - Armed personnel open fire on exposed creature and are promptly 'consumed'. Many personnel begin fleeing from site to varying degrees of success.
10:30AM - Boris Yeltsin gives green light to use a high-yield nuclear warhead on the creature if necessary.
10:37AM - Nikel' and Pechenga begin evacuation against the commands of their mayors.
10:42AM - Creature is observed sinking back into the borehole.
11:01AM - Russian military forces arrive in the northern Murmansk Oblast region, passing through the town of Nikel'.
11:17AM - 1Mt Nuclear warhead is awaiting permission to fire.
11:45AM - Russian military forces arrive at the now destroyed KBOS and begin setting up a hard perimeter.
11:52AM - Several T-90 tanks arrive and are ordered to fire a volley of HE rounds at the borehole.
11:59AM - Various tremors are felt by ground personnel.
12:05PM - Creature surfaces again.
12:05PM - Creature reaches a new height of 96m above ground level.
12:06PM - A volley of HE shells are fired from the T-90's. Observed impact is minimal and the creature flails wildly before crushing and destroying 3 T-90's along with 18 ground troops.
12:08PM - Another volley is fired to no obvious effect. Creature enrages further and begins attacking ground personnel. Several volleys are fired continuously
12:14PM - Creature 'grabs' 6 T-90's and several groups of soldiers. Visual contact with these personnel is lost.
12:15PM - Commander on site radios for more reinforcements.
12:23PM - Visual contact is restored with 'grabbed' personnel. Personnel have been 'amalgamated' into a mound of flesh and metal. Personnel inside of the mound are observed to be fully alive and conscious.
12:24PM - Creature flees into the borehole, slamming the mound on top.
12:45PM - Further reinforcements arrive at destroyed KBOS facility.
1:30PM - Lack of creature activity allows outpost to be set up.
5:00PM - Creature is declared contained.
5:30PM - Boris Yeltsin aborts nuclear launch plan.
