Battle at Watkins (feb 1, 1781 – feb 28, 1781)
Description:
Near the end of February 1781, Col. Benjamin Roebuck and his Battalion of Spartan Regiment encountered a group of Loyalists with about the same number of men as he had. The skirmish lasted until dark, when both sides ceased firing. When morning came, the fighting resumed, and eventually the Patriots were victorious. The exact location is unknown but all available information and the road named Watkins Circle Road this site was selected.
