Stalling's (Stallions') Plantation (aug 15, 1780 – sep 15, 1780)

Description:

After Col Sumter's Brigades defeat at Fishing Creek, Tories gathered at Stalling's Plantation to build a force. Patriot Capt Andrew Love learned of the Tories at Stalling's and gathered a group of local Patriots. While moving to Stalling's he encountered Col Thomas Brandon with a force of fifty Whigs. They joined and assulted the plantation house routing the Tories. Stalling's wife was Capt Love's sister who was killed during the skirmish when Brandon's men opened fire.
