Capt. John Ryan Captured (Horn Creek Church) (aug 1, 1780 – aug 31, 1780)
Description:
Patriot Capt John Ryan was told by the British if he took parole, he could be call to serve in the British cause, he refused. The British took him prisoner at Horn Creek Baptist Church and moved him to the jail in Charles Town. While in route to the jail, the British stopped and ask James Booth, a Tory plowing his field for rope to tie Ryan's hand. Booth said he would give up a years plowing to tie Rayn's hand giving up his plow rope.
