Capture of Loyalist Col John Phillips at Caldwell's Place (jun 1, 1780 – jun 30, 1780)
Description:
Col John Phillips, the Jackson Creel Loyalist militia was patrolling the York District. Lt Col Hawthorne, New Acquisition American militia pursued Col Phillips to Caldwell's Place. The Tories did not fight but fled at the sight of the Patriot militia. Col Phillips was found hiding in a briar patch and taken prisoner.
