British Store Ship (mar 1, 1780 – apr 1, 1780)
Description:
During the invasion of Charles Town, a British store ship ran aground on the eastern end of Shuites Folly Island after loosing it rudder during gale conditions. The ship was wtihin range of the Patriot cannons at Half-Moon battery located on the eastend of Broad Street in Charles Town. To pervent capture, the British set the ship a fire which caussed a explosion destroying the ship.Added to timeline:
