Mouth of the Stono River (jun 1, 1779 – jun 30, 1779)
Description:
During Jun 1779, South Carolina Navy vessels engaged seven British ships in the mouth of the Stono River. The Patriot fleet was the brigs Notre Dame, Beaufort, and Belloma commanded by Capt William Hall, Capt Tyron, and Capt Anthony along with several smaller armed vessels. During the skirmish, one British vessel blew up, two were captured, and four escaped.
