Ned Turner shot (jan 1, 1807 – dec 31, 1807)
Description:
At the end of the war, Edward "Ned" Turner fled to either Florida or the Bahamas. In 1807, he returned to his sister's home on the Saluda River. John and William Towles learned of Turner's retuned were determined to kill him. Travelling to the sister's house confronting and then John shot him striking his neck. William prevented John from "shooting a dead man twice" and rode away. Turner's sister determined he was alive and quietly with the help of a doctor nursed him back to health. Once recovered, Turner left the area never to return.
