Description:
Tory Col David Fanning had his horse Red Doe taken by Andrew Hunter one of Gen Marion's scout who had been captured. Col Fanning went in search of his horse seeking vengence. He approached Robert Gregg's house who attempted to shoot Fanning the his gun misfired. He attempted to escape into the swamp but Fanning shot him in the hip He was severely wounded playing dead and was left by the Tories. He was crippled for life after being shot.
