Raid at Fenwick Hall near John Mathews Plantation on Johns Island (jan 12, 1782 – jan 15, 1782)
Description:
The British had a 500 man force stationed at William Gibbes Plantation. Because the force threatened Patriot government at Jacksonboro Gen Greene attempted to capture the British force. During the night, most of the Patriot force moved on to Johns Island during low tide. The following day, the British Major General Alexander Leslie learned of the Patriot force and withdrew from Johns Island. Patriot Col Laurens moved on to Johns Island and engaged a British Schooner with his riflemen but did no damage.
