Roosevelt's New Deal (mar 4, 1933 – jan 1, 0)

Description:

When Roosevelt came into office in 1933, he wanted to stabilize the economy in the midst of the Great Depression. Introducing reforms that emphasized the role of the government, he improved the agricultural, financial, waterpower, and labour industries. His goal of achieving a government-regulated economy to balance private and public economic interests significantly affected American citizens: over 4,000,000 men and women were employed by January of 1934 by the Civil Works Administration program (although short-lived), and 3,500,000 people obtained jobs in 1935 as a result of the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act, which provided nearly $5,000,000,000 to the cause. New welfare programs and some control over the economy – such as limiting the agricultural produce from farmers – provided financial relief to a great magnitude of people, and Roosevelt’s New Deal gave a rather successful account of government intervention in economic crisis.
