Siege of Antioch (oct 21, 1097 – may 1, 1098)

Description:

"The siege was set up around Antioch on Wednesday 21 October. Praise and future glory be to our Lord Jesus Christ, who is always to be marveled at for the goodness of his deeds" (Robert, 120)

"Food was short in the camps, and the bitter winter cold prevented food being brought to them to buy. Moreover, those in the city attacked our men increasinly hard the more they knew they were suffering from hunger. The harshness of the weather, the shortness of foo... and the closing in of the enemy all weighed on them" ( Robert, 123).

"We are certain that, relying on His strength, we will take not only Antioch but the whole of Anatolia and Syria and Jerusalem itself, because that is what Jesus then all powerful son of God promised us" (Robert, 143)
