Age of Exploration (jan 1, 1492 – jan 1, 1760)
Description:
The Age of Exploration is historically important, as a significant portion of the world was mapped during this time. Five main countries that were involved in exploring and mapping the world were Portugal, Spain, England, France, and the Netherlands.
During the Age of Exploration, Europeans discovered new routes to India, much of the Far East, and the Americas. The newly discovered routes made trade and travel much easier and more common.
The Age of Exploration was made possible by the advancements of the Renaissance, including cartography, navigation, and shipbuilding.
