Description:
The Norman Conquest was the military conquest of England by the Duke of Normandy at the time (William), primarily because of by his victory during the Battle of Hastings (October 1066) and resulting in political, and social changes in the British Isles.
After conquering England, William secured his control of the land and people. He rewarded his supporters with large areas of land, which gave rise to the Feudal hierarchical system.
The creation of the Feudal system was historically significant, as it defined the structure of society. The Feudal system was used until the 1920’s.
