Leeuwenhoek's microscope (jan 1, 1675 – jan 1, 1676)

Description:

Leeuwenhoek was able to see single-celled creatures, which he called "animalcules" or "little tiny beasties," swimming in a drop of rainwater in 1675 using a basic but effective microscope he made himself. He is referred regarded as the "father of microbiology" since it is now known through his drawings of his discoveries that he was studying bacteria and protists.
