Description:
Samuel Johnson was commissioned to write the first "full" dictionary of the English language in 1746 CE. This project which he completed almost by himself spanned 7 years.
Until the Oxford Dictionary was published almost 200 years later, Johnson's dictionary was regarded as the pre-eminent dictionary of the English language.
