Description:
Hannibal led troops across Spain and over the Alps to Italy and captured a large part of Italy but not Rome. Roman forces eventually drove the Carthaginian forces back and they retreated to North Africa. A Roman general, Scipio, defeated Hannibal which forced Carthage to end the war.Rome gained control of what is modern-day Spain and several of the Mediterranean islands.
