William A. Smith (nov 29, 1802 – mar 1, 1870)

Description:

William A. Smith was a preacher and the President of multiple colleges: Randolph-Macon College and Central College in Lafayette, Missouri. Smith was an avid supporter of slavery and even taught the principles of slavery in his class! He gave lectures called "The Philosophy and Practice of Slavery as Exhibited in the Institution of Domestic Slavery in the United States, with the Duties of Masters to Slaves,". In these lectures, Smith taught the philosophy and how important to the ways of life of thousands of people and the economy of the country. He tried to convince his students that slavery was a good thing and that is was necessary for our countries economic success.
