Rectification Campaign (jan 1, 1986 – dec 1, 1987)
Description:
-(1986-87)-response to increasing inequality + corruption as a result of Soviet advice to Cuba, and subsequent protest by trade unions over being treated as "production army" by government (protest: reduced productivity, workers absent, etc)
-aimed to "rectify errors" - Castro publicly apologised for mistakes + government attitude (showed humility, in contrast to other authoritarian leaders)
-move back towards more centrally planned economy
