Description:

Babylon was a city-state in the River Civilization of Mesopotamia, The 6th king, Hammurabi proclaimed a set of rules that were known as the first written set of laws called the Code of Hammurabi. This set of laws were written on a 6foot stele, with a carved image of Hammurabi and the God of Justice Shamash. It is believed that Hammurabi received these laws from Shamash himself and was sent to deliver them to citizens. The codes were created to protect citizens, despite its sexist rules and before the codes were created, cases were very chaotic and messy. Punishment varied for different social classes and gender. This set of laws was soon again discovered and is believed to have paved the way for laws today.
