McMahon Letters (jul 14, 1915 – mar 10, 1916)

Description:

The British High Commissioner, McMahon, was in correspondence with the Sharif of Mecca during WWI. They agreed that the Sharif would lead the Palestinians in an uprising against the Ottoman Empire in return for Britain being 'prepared to recognise and support the independence of the Arabs'.

The Ottoman Empire dissolved as a result and had to pull out of WWI.
