Wage and price freeze (jan 1, 1982 – jan 1, 1984)
Description:
The wage and price freeze was a plan for price control, imposed by Robert Muldoon in June 1982. He thought that the freeze would help stop inflation rates from rising. The freeze was unpopular amongst workers and employers used to increasing payments or wages every year. The freeze was ended by the Labour goverment which removed Muldoon from office, in july 1984.
