Opium war (dec 4, 1839 – jan 5, 1842)
Description:
The first opium war was fought between England and China, but was extremely one sided. England had modern weapons that China had deemed as unnecessary to their country on a large scale. It was fought over the use of Opium in trade with China that was illegal but not well monitored. It caused addiction problems in China and the war was the start to European dominance of China.
