Haitian Revolution (jan 7, 1791 – mar 19, 1791)

Description:

The Haitian revolution was lead by Toussant L'Ouverture. it was the only successful slave revolt ever. Inspired by other revolutions of the time, the Haitians took advantage of the French being in the midst of a civil war to start their movement. Napoleon moved in but the armies organized by Haitians were able to prevail and gain independence. Key concept 5.3
