Description:

Causes: Spain was boarding English vessels to search for contraband.
Robert Jenkins was a sailor on a British ship and in a skirmish with the Spanish, he had his ear cut off.
He carried his ear around in a jar of brandy for seven years, appearing before Parliament in 1738 where he used it to argue for the brutality of the Spanish to British merchants.
Britain waged war against Spain in 1739.
