In December 1949, California produced 41,500 (in 1,000 boxes) worth of oranges. California was second to Florida in overall orange production in 1950. On average from 1936-1947, California produced 48,894 (in 1,000 boxes) worth of oranges. During this period, California was on average the largest producer of oranges in the nation.
