Samson Occom Lifespan (jan 1, 1723 – jan 1, 1792)
Description:
Occom heard of Wheelock’s school and had come to study divinity. He studied under Wheelock for 4 years before beginning his own work; eventually ordained by the Presbytery of Suffolk in Long Island. In 1766, Wheelock convinced Occom to go to England with him to raise funds for a new school to teach both Native Americans and European immigrants.Added to timeline:
