Eleazar Wheelock Lifespan (jan 1, 1711 – jan 1, 1779)
Description:
Wheelock graduated from Yale in 1733, and then pastored the Second Congregational Church of Lebanon or 35 years! Eleazar was a strong supporter of the Awakening, and was also a firm proponent of education; he opened a school for learning Latin in his home. His life changed dramatically in 1743 when a young Algonquian-speaking Mohegan named Samson Occom came to his school.Added to timeline:
