The Bill of Rights (apr 1, 1789 – sep 1, 1791)

Description:

- Ratified in 1791 by the states
- First Amendment "Congress shall not infringe on religious freedom, freedom of speech, the right of the people to peacefully assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances
- Second Amendment "the right of the people to keep arms"
- Third Amendment "no soldier shall be quartered in any house without the consent of the owner unless prescribed by the law"
- Fourth Amendment "no warrant, no search of private property"
- Fifth Amendment "no person shall be held to answer for a capital punishment unless during the war times, only one capital punishment is allowed, no witness against one's self, no seizure of private property, no violation of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness"
- Sixth Amendment "established the court justice"
- seventh Amendment "no jury trial shall be reexamined"
- Eighth Amendment 'excessive bail shall not be required"
- Ninth Amendment "certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people"
- Tenth Amendment "The powers not delegated to the federal government, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the States respectively"
