- McKinley sent war message to Congress for the reason to: Put an end to bloodshed in Cuba, Protect lives and property of US citizens in Cuba, end the damage on trade, and create peace in Cuba.- United States took the colonies of Philippines from Spain during the war and annex Hawaii
- Peace Treaty agreed on the recognition of Cuba's independence, US's acquisition of Puerto-Rico and Guam, and US's control of Philippines.
