Description:
As manifest destiny and the desire to expand America grew rooted in American culture, the advancement of transportation followed. Near the beginning of the 19th century, the construction of steamships and canals would result in a call for workers. Seeing the opportunity from work, immigrants from Europe, but mainly Ireland, flooded into the United States.
