Federalist Party (jan 1, 1789 – jan 1, 1815)
Description:
A member of the US's first party system. They favored weaker state governments, a strong centralized government, the indirect election of government officials, longer term limits for officeholders, national bank, internal improvements, national debt, and higher taxes and tariffs. The notable Alexander Hamilton is the epimomy of this party. Crumbled after American victory of the war of 1812 which the Feds staunchly opposed.
