Description:
Father of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. His presidency was marred by conflict between Britain and the US with the War of 1812. Strict constructionist and opposer of Hamilton's plan. While opposing he did charter a second US bank, and began protective tariffs to be continued in Henery Clay's American System. Darn good president.Added to timeline:
