Description:
Was a member of Andrew Jackson's cabinet.
Helps Jackson find his way out of heavy political situations.
For Jackson's second term he acts as the VP.
Election of 1836 ran against three Whig candidate. Ran on the idea of continuing Jackson policies.
Panic of 1837 was a depression. People start to look west for better oportunities. Beggining of Western Expansion.
Very oppossed to annexation of Texas. He did not want slavery to spread.
