the battle of dunkirk (may 26, 1940 – jun 4, 1940)
Description:
1- operation dynamo had three routes for the ships to head to Britain-
Route X- this route couldn’t be used at night because it was occupied with the most mines
Route Y- the longest route with a 4 hour duration
Route Z- the shortest route with a 2 hour duration, but was so close to the coast of beaches it could be fired at by german artillery
2- German general Kurt Waeger was SO impressed with the French defenders for putting up a fight, that he allowed them to March into captivity in parade formation with their rifles, while German troops had to watch saluted!
