Description:
The Korean War was the first military conflict of WWII. It started when North Korea invaded South Korea across the 38th parallel, the arbitrary line drawn to separate the two countries in 1945. The US backed South Korea and the USSR and China backed North Korea. 2-4 million people died over the course of the war, 70% of them civilians. An official end to the war was only declared in December 2021, no peace treaty was ever signed.Added to timeline:
