Ardennes War (apr 7, 2090 – jul 13, 2091)
Description:
The French speaking Walloon regions of Belgium had fallen into an authoritarian dictatorship and were sieging Luxembourg City whom pleaded with King Charles de Reims for aid. He agreed to help in exchange for vassalization. The Grand Duke, whom managed to keep hold of the city even through the famines, agreed to recognize Charles in exchange for some added autonomy within the new kingdom. The Duke initially showed unwillingness but was worn down by several more months of fighting. Charles began the campaign in 2090 relieving the city and pushing from all directions. The fighting was fierce initially especially in the Ardennes but the Walloons had low morale after fighting for months already and were crushed during a one year campaign from 2090-91. However elements in the slowly reforming Flemish regions supported guerrilla campaigns out of fear of Charles continuing to push north and the region wouldn’t calm fully until 2101.Added to timeline:
