Potsdam Conference (jul 17, 1945 – aug 2, 1945)
Description:
The Potsdam Conference was intended to be a continuation of the Yalta Conference however Truman took over in the US after FDR died between the conferences and Clement Attlee took over for Churchill after the election in the UK midway through the Potsdam Conference. Truman pushed for war reparations to only be extracted from a nation's own zone of occupation to avoid economic collapse brought about by overenthusiastic collection of reparations. Demilitarization and political reform was enacted in Germany to undo the wrongs the Nazis had enacted and prevent them from returning to power. It was during this conference that the US detonated the first atomic bomb.
