Hyksos Invasion and Influence (feb 20, 1730 BC – feb 10, 1570 BC)
Description:
A northwestern Semitic (Amorite or Canaanite) people who subdued the Egyptian pharaohs of the Middle Kingdom upon their invasion. Along with Syria and Palestine under their authority, the Hyksos established a powerful kingdom, its capital being Avaris-Tanis in the Nile delta. Among their contributions were the composite bow and the horse-drawn carriage. They met their defeat by Amasis I at the battle of Tanis.
