Bacon's Rebellion (jul 30, 1676 – jan 1, 1677)
Description:
Enslaved African Americans fought together with white indendured servants.
The landowner Nathanial Bacon declared himslef leader of the colonoy's former intendured servants, freemen, black and white, nely arrived immigrants, and enslaved blacks.
Based on their common exploitation on the large tobacco estates and grieve for power and additionals land, he marched on Jamestown with 500 men. He issued the "declaration of the People" and July 30, 1676 accusing the Govenor of corruption and being pro-Native American.
On September 19, they returned to Jamestown and succesfuly beat the troups in a battle against the Governor. They forced them to retreat and burned down the town.
Later the rebellion was ended by war ships of the British Royal Navy.
