Description:
-held weeks after the battles of Lexington and Concord
-Established the Continental Army led by George Washington (he was well-liked and from the South; Southerners were loyalists so Washington's leadership was meant to sway the towards the patriots side)
-They printed money
-created government offices to supervise policy
-Most of the delegates didn't want full-on war so they wrote the Olive Branch Petition as a last call for a resolution to all disputes to the king, which refused to receive it
-ONE YEAR BEFORE THE ADOPTION OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, COLONIAL LEADERS WERE STILL TRYING TO RECONCILE WITH BRITAIN
