The Berlin Airlift was the flying of resources to Berlin by the US and the UK to prevent the starvation of civilians in the Berlin Blockade. The Soviet Union had ordered a blockade on all supply lines to threaten the US to withdraw from their economic endeavors. This resulted in a closer alliance between the US and West Germany, as well as caused harm to the Soviet Union's economy.
