José María Morelos (sep 30, 1765 – dec 22, 1815)
Description:
Fought to liberate MexicoHe joined the revolution started by Hidalgo in 1811. He took leadership of the independence movement after Hidalgo’s death. In 1813, he called the Congress of Chilpancingo to create a government and constitution. In 1814 they declared Mexico’s independence.
