Description:
Fought to liberate Venezuela, New Granada (Columbia and Panama), Quito (Ecuador)
Helped liberate Peru and established Bolivia
Led revolutions against Spanish rule in multiple countries. He declared Venezuela’s independence in 1811, though it was defeated by the Spanish in 1814. In 1819, he attacked New Granada and defeated the Spanish. He secured the independence of Ecuador in 1822 and Peru in 1824. He was president of Columbia and Peru.
